Moved into a home with shutters that have aged badly? Paint chipped, slats snapped, panels drooping, the whole thing looking tired? Full replacement is often unnecessary. If the frames are sound, restoration usually costs a fraction of new shutters and keeps the character of the originals, which matters in period and conservation-area homes.
What restoration covers
Refinishing and repainting: stripping back, refinishing and repainting worn or discoloured shutters, with the colour matched to the room or the rest of the house.
Slat and panel replacement: damaged louvres and whole panels remade and blended in.
Re-tensioning louvres: restoring the smooth, holds-its-angle feel of shutters that have gone loose or floppy.
Rehanging and re-squaring: dropped or sagging frames re-hung so panels close flush again.
Hardware renewal: worn hinges, magnets, tilt rods and fixings replaced.
Period and inherited shutters: sympathetic work on older shutters where you want to keep the original rather than start again.

During a free assessment we'll show you the options side by side with honest costs. Our rule of thumb: if the work comes to less than about 60% of the price of new shutters and the frames are solid, restoring is the better value, and we'll recommend it even though it's the smaller job. If they're genuinely beyond saving, we'll tell you that too.

The work
Lighter jobs are done on-site. Refinishing and larger work goes to the workshop, and we leave temporary cover up while your shutters are away.

Restored panels are re-hung, squared and checked, and the work is guaranteed, the same standard as everything we fit.
