Restoration
Shutter restoration for older shutters
Older shutters can be part of what you value about a period home. Our restoration service brings repairs, adjustment and improvements to appearance together where the existing shutters can be retained. We explain what can stay, what needs work and the practical arrangements before you decide.
What can restoration improve?
Restoration can address a worn appearance, panels that no longer move comfortably and several repairs that need handling together. The aim is to keep sound shutters useful and suited to the room. An isolated fault may need only a smaller repair; we explain that option too.
What would you like to keep?
Tell us which details matter to you, whether you want to retain the existing colour, and which parts of the shutters no longer work properly. We agree the shutters and visible frames included in the work. A newly finished or replacement part can look different beside an aged surface, so the intended result is discussed in advance. An exact appearance match is not guaranteed.
Older shutters and original window joinery
A period property may have later shutters or surviving original joinery. If your shutters form part of the original window surround, tell us when you enquire. We establish whether the proposed work is within our service before agreeing the job.
How the work is arranged
The restoration scope, price and practical arrangements are agreed before work starts. We explain what can be retained and what needs improving, then check the completed shutters in use.
- 01
Show us the shutters
Send a view of the complete window and the affected areas, or arrange a free assessment. Tell us what you want to keep and any other window work planned.
- 02
Agree the work and price
We explain what can be retained, the proposed repairs and appearance work, and any replacement parts. You receive an itemised quotation before work starts.
- 03
Confirm the arrangements
We confirm whether the work can take place at home or needs workshop conditions, including any removal and refitting. The timing and practical effect on the room are agreed for the job.
- 04
Check the completed shutters
The agreed work is checked, including how the shutters open, close and sit at the window.
What affects the restoration quote?
The quotation depends on the number and size of the shutters, their condition, replacement parts, appearance work and access. It identifies any removal, work away from the house and refitting included in the price. We confirm the scope before work starts.
| Job | How we quote |
|---|---|
| Repairs and any replacement parts | Quoted for your job |
| Agreed appearance work on panels and visible frames | Quoted for your job |
| Adjustment and rehanging where needed | Quoted for your job |
| Any removal, workshop work and refitting | Quoted for your job |
The restoration scope and price are confirmed before work starts, with no obligation to proceed.
