Old Town proportions and Kingston Hill bays
Kingston's Old Town contains buildings from several periods, while Coombe and parts of Kingston Hill include larger historic houses in lower-density settings. Tall sashes, bays and later replacement windows need their own measurements, even where neighbouring frontages look alike.
On a bay, we follow uneven panel gaps around each angle, checking the hinges and frame joints together. On a tall sash, we compare the meeting rail and handles with the shutter rails before deciding what has moved. These checks help distinguish a panel that needs adjustment from a fault in its supporting frame before repair or restoration is agreed.
