Who we are and how to contact us

Shutter Installation is a service brand operated by Shutter Design Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 10477976. The company is the controller responsible for your personal information. Our registered office is 20 Wittering Close, Kingston Upon Thames, KT2 5GA, England. It is not a public showroom.

Contact us about this policy or your personal information at info@shutterinstallation.co.uk or on 07776 123 386.

Information we collect

When you use the enquiry form, we collect your name, email address, telephone number, address, postcode, enquiry type, message and the page from which you sent the form. We also keep information you choose to provide by email, phone, WhatsApp or during a home visit. This can include photographs, videos, measurements and details of the shutter fault or fitting job.

If you ask for a quote or instruct us, we keep correspondence, survey notes, the agreed scope, quotations, contracts, invoices and payment confirmations. We also keep parts information, appointment records and notes about the work or a warranty issue. This website does not collect or store full payment-card details.

Essential technical processing happens whether or not you accept analytics. The hosting and contact systems may process your IP address, request details, security logs and a Cloudflare Turnstile security token. They use this information to deliver the site, protect the form, prevent spam and send your enquiry. Your cookie choice is stored in your browser's local storage.

If you accept Analytics, Google Analytics receives page, device, browser, traffic-source and interaction information, including call and WhatsApp link clicks and site-performance measurements. Sentry may receive error, browser and performance information. Sentry is configured not to collect default personal information, and request-body data is removed before an error event is sent.

We do not ask you to provide special category information, such as health, religious or political information. Please do not include it in an enquiry unless it is genuinely necessary for us to provide the service you requested.

Why we use your information and the lawful basis

We use enquiry and property information to respond, assess the work, arrange a visit and prepare a quote. We rely on taking steps at your request before entering a contract. If you instruct us, we use the information to schedule and perform the agreed work, source any agreed replacement parts, take payment and provide aftercare. We rely on performance of the contract.

We use transaction and service records for accounting, tax, warranty and dispute handling. We rely on legal obligations where record keeping is required and on our legitimate interests in running the business, maintaining accurate records and establishing or defending legal claims.

We use IP addresses, request details and security records where necessary to operate and secure the website, validate form submissions, prevent fraud and spam, and diagnose technical faults. We rely on our legitimate interests in providing a secure and reliable service, subject to your rights and interests.

Google Analytics and Sentry only load after you accept Analytics in the cookie controls. Google Ads conversion measurement only loads after you accept Marketing. The lawful basis for that optional processing is consent. You can withdraw it at any time through Cookie Settings in the footer.

Submitting an enquiry does not sign you up for electronic marketing. We use your contact details for the enquiry and service messages you requested. We only send optional electronic marketing where you have separately consented, and every such message must provide a way to opt out.

Who receives your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share only what is needed with service providers and recipients that help us deliver the purposes described in this policy.

Hostinger hosts the website and email service and delivers contact-form email. Cloudflare processes Turnstile security checks for the enquiry form. Google processes website analytics after Analytics consent and advertising measurement after Marketing consent. Sentry processes error and performance information only after Analytics consent. If you choose WhatsApp, Meta and WhatsApp process that conversation under their own privacy terms.

We may share relevant information with a parts supplier where this is needed to identify or order an agreed component. We may also share information with our bank, professional advisers and insurers. We disclose information to regulators, courts or law-enforcement bodies where necessary or required by law.

Shutters Design and Shutter Installation are separate service brands operated by Shutter Design Limited. If your enquiry is for a completely new made-to-measure shutter system, it may be handled through the Shutters Design service and website.

International transfers

Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. A restricted transfer must use a lawful transfer mechanism. UK adequacy regulations may cover the destination. An appropriate safeguard may instead apply, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Contact us to ask which provider applies to your information and for details of the relevant safeguard.

How long we keep information

We keep contracts, invoices, payment records and related service records for six years from the end of the relevant company financial year. We may keep them longer where the law, an active dispute or a legal hold requires it. This period also covers the 12-month workmanship warranty record for an agreed repair.

If an enquiry does not become a contract, we keep it only while reasonably needed to respond and manage follow-up. We then delete or anonymise it, unless we still need it for a complaint or legal issue.

Consent records and suppression records are kept for as long as needed to demonstrate and respect your choice. Essential security logs and optional analytics or error data are kept for limited periods under our configuration and the relevant provider's retention controls.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, or a portable copy of information you provided. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interests and object at any time to direct marketing.

Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal. We do not use solely automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

To exercise a right, email info@shutterinstallation.co.uk. We normally respond within one month. We may ask for enough information to confirm your identity. A right can be limited by law, and we will explain if an exemption applies.

How to complain

Please contact info@shutterinstallation.co.uk first if you have a concern so we can investigate it.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, by calling 0303 123 1113, or by writing to Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.

Cookies and similar browser storage

Essential storage and processing keep the site and enquiry form working. This includes local storage for your consent choice, hosting and security logs, and Cloudflare Turnstile when you submit the form. These functions do not depend on Analytics consent.

The Analytics category controls Google Analytics and Sentry. The Marketing category controls Google Ads conversion measurement. These services remain off until you opt in to the matching category. The current site does not load an optional preference embed.

Use Cookie Settings in the footer to review or change your choice. You can also clear browser storage or block cookies through your browser, although blocking essential storage or security features may prevent the form or consent controls from working as intended.

Security

We use HTTPS, access controls, form validation, rate limiting, spam checks and restricted administrative access to reduce the risk of unauthorised access, loss or misuse. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children

This website and our home services are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect a child's personal information through the site. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted personal information so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The date shown at the top of the page identifies the current version.
