Professional Plantation Shutter Repairs in 48 Towns

We assess and repair plantation shutters fitted by us or another company. This includes broken louvres, loose tilt rods, worn hinges, dropped panels, damaged catches and existing parts that need replacing. The condition of the panels and frames determines whether a component repair is viable.

Repair the failed part where it is viable

A failed louvre, tilt rod, hinge, catch or panel does not automatically require a completely new shutter set. We inspect the fault and the surrounding frame, then confirm whether the component can be repaired, needs replacing or forms part of a wider restoration job.

What's wrong with yours?

These are the component and fitting faults we assess, how they appear and what the repair may involve. If you are not sure which fault you have, send a full photograph and a close-up.

Broken or missing louvres

What you'll see: a snapped, cracked or missing slat in an otherwise usable panel.

The fix: the damaged louvre assessed for replacement, with its size, material, finish and connector arrangement matched as closely as possible.

Snapped or detached tilt rod

What you'll see: the bar that tilts the louvres has come away or broken, so the slats no longer move together.

The fix: the tilt rod and its staples are reattached or replaced so the whole panel moves as one again.

Stiff or floppy louvres

What you'll see: louvres that won't hold the angle you set, or have gone stiff to move.

The fix: the tension and connected parts checked before adjustment or component replacement.

Seized or broken hinge

What you'll see: a panel hanging crooked, catching on the frame, or not closing at all.

The fix: the hinge is replaced and the neighbouring panels re-levelled so the whole set sits square.

Sagging or dropped panel

What you'll see: a panel that has dropped in the frame and no longer closes flush or latches.

The fix: re-hung and adjusted so it closes flush and latches cleanly again.

Loose magnets and catches

What you'll see: panels that swing open on their own or won't stay shut.

The fix: magnets, catches and fixings renewed so panels hold closed properly.

Tracked shutter system

What you'll see: panels that have shifted, catch as they move, or have come out of their track.

The fix: the track and panels realigned and secured so they move smoothly again.

Water-damaged shutters

What you'll see: slats near a bathroom or kitchen that have warped, swollen or discoloured.

The fix: water damage cannot be repaired, but affected louvres, panels or shutters can be replaced with suitable parts for the room.

Frame coming away from the wall

What you'll see: the whole frame working loose from the window reveal.

The fix: the opening and existing frame assessed to determine whether it can be safely re-fixed with suitable packers and fixings.
